I am pursuing my BSN in nursing however I was thinking of going for my masters once I am finished, and one of my bosses said why don’t you go get your masters in law instead and use the BSN as your pre-law degree. I thought hmm sounds like an idea.

I know a nurse who is a legal nurse and works with attorneys and insurance companies, she has her masters in law and a BSN for nursing, is that the normal route to take to do this? I know there is also some licensing for Legal nursing certificate, If i got my law degree wouldn’t that look better than a cert?
Does that sound possible to do … BSN in nursing and a Masters in law , do you get paid more for being more credible?

That’s the perfect route for doing legal work as a nurse, get the BSN first and then get the law degree. This is what most people end up doing who choose this profession. I don’t necessarily think that you get paid more for being more credible. You just earn yourself a reputation of being good at what you do and being credible, and that gets you more referrals in the business and more work and that in turn could lead to more money.
Hopefully you’re planning on working as an RN in a hospital at some point to gain some experience in the field and insight into how a hospital environment functions so that you will make a better lawyer in the future. If you’ve never been in the environment and are just reading a chart, you aren’t getting the whole picture.

You can work on medical malpractice cases or work on medical contract law in a lawyer’s office. You can work for insurance companies, state agencies or hospitals.
There is a lot you can do with medical and law.
