state tax in New Jersey?

I moved from Texas to New Jersey in April 2008 at a location of client working on a project. My employer is still based in Texas. I moved from my apartment in Texas and living in an apartment in New Jersey. My employer has been withholding tax to the State of New Jersey. I thought I will calculate and pay state tax in January 2009. But a friend told me that in New Jersey that I paid NJ state tax. Am I already in trouble? 1) Since my employer is based in Texas, do I still pay state taxes in New Jersey? 2) If my W2 does not have state tax information, can I pay State tax law using turbo tax or similar software? 3) prepaying mandatory state tax? I'm already something illegal not to have paid the tax. I want to make sure that everything I do is legal regardless of whether it cost more or less. Please help.
